Chris joined Beck & Tysver in 2005 with substantial experience in computer and information technology, natural sciences, climate dynamics, mathematics and statistics.  He has a Ph.D. in Oceanography, and served as  a postdoctoral fellow and scientist in the Climate Dynamics Division at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.  As a tenured faculty member for a number of years in the Department of Geological Sciences and Marine Science Program at the University of South Carolina, Chris studied the physics of the ocean and atmosphere using supercomputer simulations.  At Beck & Tysver, Chris has represented clients on patent and copyright matters relating to computer systems (e.g., networking and storage), software, and consumer electronics, as well as a variety of other areas.  In addition to his intellectual property practice, Chris is available to act as a mediator, particularly for disputes involving scientific and technical issues (e.g., green energy, environmental, computer and information technology, and intellectual property).  A qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice for the District Courts, he regularly serves as a volunteer community mediator.
