Stephanie James is a trademark lawyer and patent attorney working in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnestoa. Stephanie works with companies in both the medical device field and the computer technology field, developing their U.S. and international patent portfolios.  She drafts and prosecutes patent applications, and counsels clients as to how best to stake out valuable territory of their own, while avoiding their competitors’ rights, in their competitive landscapes.  She also assists clients in selecting trademarks and securing their trademark rights through registration with the U.S. Trademark Office. Stephanie began her career in patent law in 1988 as a law clerk, then associate, with the Minneapolis patent firm of Merchant & Gould.  She gained valuable in-house experience as sole IP counsel at NordicTrack, Inc., growing its substantial patent portfolio and managing its IP litigation.

 

Stephanie’s technology concentration includes mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and business methods.  Her engineering education includes an emphasis in heat transfer and solar energy.
