Stephanie James works with companies in both the medical device field and the computer technology field, developing their U.S. and international patent portfolios.  She drafts and prosecutes patent applications, and counsels clients as to how best to stake out valuable territory of their own, while avoiding their competitors’ rights, in their competitive landscapes.  She also assists clients in selecting trademarks and securing their trademark rights through registration.
Stephanie began her career in patent law in 1988 as a law clerk, then associate, with the patent firm of Merchant & Gould.  She gained valuable in-house experience as sole IP counsel at NordicTrack, Inc., growing its substantial patent portfolio and managing its IP litigation.
